Gold Miner Genesis Makes Rival $3.9 Billion Bid for Vault

Australian gold miner [Genesis Minerals Ltd.](https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/GMD:AU) has launched a A$5.6 billion ($3.9 billion) cash and stock bid for [Vault Minerals Ltd.](https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/VAU:AU), trumping a deal it agreed earlier with rival Regis Resources Ltd.

The Genesis deal would create a combined miner worth around A$13 billion with a vast footprint across Western Australia’s Goldfields region including five major mines and shared infrastructure. It would become one of Australia’s largest gold miners by market capitalization with about 700,000 ounces of production annually.
